Summary of the Service
The Secure Net Service (the "Service") consists of a number of different online security features ("Service Features") that will help to protect you (and your family) when browsing on the Vodafone mobile Network. The Service is available at home or abroad as long as your Vodafone SIM card is installed in the mobile phone that you are using, and you are connected to a mobile Network.
How to access the Service:
You can access and manage the Service via the online Secure Net Web Portal or through the use of the Secure Net smartphone application (the "Secure Net App"). The Secure Net App is available for both iOS and Android and can be downloaded from the app store available on your device (standard data charges may apply).
You need to have access to both the Secure Net App and the Web Portal to enjoy the full functionality of the Service. Not all the below Service Features are available in both the Secure Net App and on the Secure Net Portal.
The Service consists of the following Service Features:
"Online Protection" the Online Protection Service Feature helps to protect against online security threats including viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, malware and unwanted programs by blocking access to the identified threat. It will also help to protect you from harmful websites such as phishing websites or sites that might contain harmful content by warning you of potential dangers before you are able to proceed.
The Service also protects you when using your data enabled apps and you will receive an alert by SMS if we block content or a download.
Customer must be aware that the Online Protection Service Feature does not protect you in certain circumstances. These circumstances are set out in the 'Service Limitations' section below.
"Cleaning Tool" is an enhanced Online Protection Service Feature available for Android users only, using the Secure Net App. The Cleaning Tool feature helps to remove online security threats including viruses, trojans, spyware, adware and unwanted files from your device. Following the scan, you will receive a report on your device listing any malicious software, applications or files detected by the Cleaning Tool, so that you can remove them from your device. If you choose to ignore the report and keep any malicious software, application or files you will need to unselect those items from the report before proceeding to removal. As set out in the 'Our Responsibilities to you' section below, we will not be responsible for any negative impacts and other detriment caused as a result of ignoring the report.
"ID Monitoring": This feature lets you know if your registered personal data (i.e. personal data such as name, surname, date of birth, phone number, credit/debit card number, e-mail address, postal address, etc. that you have added in your Secure Net account) ("Registered Credentials") have been exposed to a data breach. The ID Monitoring feature searches the deep web and the dark web to detect compromised and potentially damaging Registered Credentials and will alert you by SMS, so that you can take immediate action.
You acknowledge that due to the nature and constantly evolving deep web and dark web we are unable to guarantee that the entirety of the deep web and dark web has been searched. Further, the ID Monitoring feature cannot remove your information from the deep web and dark web, and we are unable to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the information found on the deep web and dark web.
ID Monitoring is available in the Secure Net App only.
To use the ID Monitoring feature, you must (i) accept the Secure Net Privacy Supplement and (ii) insert the specific personal details you wish to monitor in the Secure Net App.
"Digital Safety Rating": is a summary of your online safety (e.g. strong or weak) together with a set of recommended actions to take to improve your rating. This rating is an indication only and must not be used as a definite measure of your online safety. The Digital Safety Rating is shown in the Secure Net App.
"Parental Controls": In the parental control feature you can restrict access to certain websites and applications (when browsing online apps and services) and establish time limitations where browsing time can be restricted. Parental controls cannot be applied to offline apps or games that work without data connectivity. The Parental Control feature is set-up and managed in the Secure Net Web Portal only. The Parental Control feature does not restrict access to content already stored on the device.
For the Parental Control feature to work you must link individuals (with an active account on the Vodafone mobile Network, such as your child or spouse) to your administrator account ("Administrator"). Individuals will have to consent to you becoming an administrator of their account and they will be notified of any subscription costs involved with their use of the Service.
Service Limitations
You should be aware that there are limitations to the Service and that the Service is not intended to operate as a sole security measure on a mobile device.
The Online Service Protection Feature does not protect you:
- When using apps with a proprietary form of encryption e.g. WhatsApp;
- When using apps or browsers which have an embedded (pinned) certificate;
- When using secure sites white listed by Vodafone;
- If you change your APN;
- If you use a VPN service;
- If you're not connected to a mobile network (e.g. home Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hotspots)
- If you're connected to Wi-Fi through a tethered connection (e.g.: if you use the tethered hotspot from a non-Secure Net user, your protection policies will not apply even if it is on the Vodafone mobile Network);
- If you tether your connection and share it with other users from your household, your own protection policies will apply but not that user's protection policies (e.g.: if a child profile uses a parent's hotspot, they will stay protected against threats however they will not have the child profile specific content access restrictions applied to their browsing);
- If you select an alternative roaming provider;
- File scanning over HTTPS connections and TLS connections;
- When using smartphone data compression services (e.g. Opera Max);
- When using browsers that can compress and/or encrypt traffic except Opera Mini (Vodafone version), Nokia Xpress, Microsoft BOS and Google Chrome;
- Where a proxy service is used;
- Some e-mail protocols (except HTTP, POP3 and SMTP);
- When using a download manager, or when your download is paused for an extended length of time;
- When using a service that otherwise masks your IP address, performs DNS URL resolution over the HTTPS protocol, or encrypts non-encrypted traffic. This may include some versions of iCloud Apple Private Relay.
- Against security threats introduced by hardware, such as SD cards.

Upon expiry of the Trial Period and unless specifically included in your tariff, the Service will be subject to a monthly fee (charged to your monthly mobile bill) (the "Fee"). The Fee will be confirmed with you before your purchase, on the Service website and in your Welcome Letter. All prices will be inclusive of VAT, with no other initial subscription fee or minimum contract term.
We will send you an SMS to confirm (i) when your Trial Period ends; (ii) when you will be charged the Fee; and (iii) how to Opt-Out of the Service. If you are a pre-pay customer the Fee will be taken from your existing pre-pay credit.
