Vodafone records the most data ever used at Principality Stadium during iconic Taylor Swift concert

Taylor Swift fans had a night beyond their Wildest Dreams, thanks in part to Vodafone's reliable, award-winning network connecting Cardiff's Principality Stadium.

  • 3.3 terabytes (TB) of data was consumed by fans at Principality Stadium during the iconic Taylor Swift concert – equivalent to downloading more than 700 HD films (with each one 1.5hrs in duration).
  • Network data also showed that, when compared to the two other top events at Principality Stadium for 2023 and 2024, Taylor Swift beat the data consumption at the Harry Styles and Pink concerts by 1.1TB and 1.3TB, respectively.
  • As Digital Transformation Partner to Principality Stadium, Vodafone has continued to invest in its network, creating a stronger and more reliable network for visiting fans.

More than 70,000 fans packed out Principality Stadium in Cardiff to see megastar, Taylor Swift, during the UK leg of her epic Eras tour. Vodafone data shows that more than 3.3 terabytes (TB) of data was consumed by Swifties during the concert – the most Vodafone data ever used at Principality Stadium.

Network data also showed that, when compared to other legendary events at Principality Stadium in 2023 and 2024, Taylor Swift beat data consumption at both the Harry Styles and Pink concerts by 1.1TB & 1.3TB, respectively. In fact, Swifties recorded a huge rise in data consumption, with a whopping increase of 53% compared to Harry Styles and 65% compared to Pink.

Even at increased capacity for Principality Stadium, Vodafone’s reliable and award-winning network* delivered consistently fast speeds for its customers, ensuring fans could share photos, make calls and even live-stream the legendary event.

Seamlessly complex: how Vodafone installed 5G in Cardiff’s Principality Stadium

The engineering challenges of providing fast mobile signal for 74,000 people, packed into one of Cardiff’s most popular places, were overcome in record time. This is how it was done.

As Digital Transformation Partner to Principality Stadium, Vodafone has continued to invest in its network, creating stronger and more reliable services for visiting fans. At the start of the year, alongside existing 2G and 4G infrastructure, Vodafone upgraded the stadium to 5G, equipping it with more than ten times the amount of radio hardware compared to a single, lone mast.

As The Nation’s Network, Vodafone is proud to connect customers to the people and the things they love on its reliable, award-winning network*. It has a long heritage of serving the UK, ever since the very first mobile phone call was made on its network in 1984.

Today, 40 years on, it offers 4G coverage to 99% of UK households, is the network of choice for 82% of the country’s emergency services, and connects more than 550,000 unique business customers across the UK. It is also the fastest growing and largest provider of full fibre in the UK, with its superfast broadband services now available to nearly 12 million homes.

Knights, chihuahuas and drag queens have entered the chat

From medieval reenactors to wheelchair basketball players, the chat groups on our phones mirror the wondrously diverse interests and people of the UK. We spoke to just a few of them.

Andrea Dona, Chief Network Officer at Vodafone UK, said: “We know how important it is for people to stay connected, especially at events and concerts where they want to share their favourite moments on social media or with family and friends who aren’t there. As The Nation’s Network, we want to make sure as many fans as possible benefit from our reliable, award-winning network at arenas around the country, and I’m incredibly proud that we were able to support the increasing data demands of Swifties.”
