Vodafone’s Return to Work Careers & Skills Fair saw companies and government representatives offer advice and support to women and men, parents and carers, looking to start their journey back to work.
The free event gave more than 150 attendees the opportunity to take advantage of workshops on:
- CV building
- interview techniques
- how to use digital tools better
as well as the chance to meet likeminded people, network and share experiences.
Hays, the global recruitment service; LHH Penna, the transition and leadership development company; 2to3days, the part-time flexible jobs specialist recruitment agency; and the Government Equalities Office, all joined Vodafone in supporting the well-attended event.
Helen Lamprell, Vodafone UK’s General Counsel & External Affairs Director, said: “This event means a lot to me personally.
“So many women – and men – who want to return to work are worried that their skills have eroded. This isn’t true – things don’t change that much.
“People lack confidence. But we at Vodafone really value your skills, and lots of companies really need your skills.”
Victoria Atkins MP, Minister for Women, said: “Going back to work after having a child can be daunting. But companies that don’t support parents to do this are missing out on talent.
“It’s great to see Vodafone offering such valuable support to returners, and encouraging other businesses to do the same. And today the Government Equalities Office has also published a toolkit – a step-by-step guide to returning to work – bringing together advice and resources for returners.
“By government and business acting on this issue together we can grow the economy and achieve true equality in our workplaces.”
During the day’s events, Vodafone showcased a number of exciting roles available through its award-winning ReConnect Returners’ Programme – which specifically takes care of recruiting men and women returners into management positions.
It also offers help and advice to enhance professional skills during the first six months back at work.
