Vodafone UK CEO Max Taylor met with First Minister of Scotland John Swinney ahead of Scotland’s Autumn International against South Africa.
The pair were in the stands at Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium on Sunday 10 November as Scotland fell to a 15 – 32 defeat to the current world champions.
Despite the result, Vodafone’s latest partnership with Scottish Rugby promises to mark an exciting future, underscoring the company’s commitment to continue investing in Scotland and the things the nation loves most.
In terms of rugby, the multi-year partnership will see Vodafone explore the use of connectivity solutions to support Scottish Rugby Union athletes’ performance, while enhancing fan experience.
On the player side, this includes Vodafone’s PLAYER.Connect, which Scotland Women and the women’s pathway teams will gain full access to as part of the alliance.
The landmark mobile-first platform helps female athletes understand the impact their menstrual cycle can have on performance, wellbeing and recovery, with teams such as the Armed Forces Women’s Rugby Team and Celtic Challenge teams Brython Thunder and Gwalia Lightning already making use of the technology.

Fans, meanwhile, can look forward to getting closer to the action thanks to the power of Vodafone’s reliable, award-winning network*, which has already been delivered to the likes of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Wembley.
The recent trial of Vodafone’s revolutionary 5G Fan App at Principality Stadium combined augmented reality and superfast 5G, in a potential sign of what’s to come for both Hive Stadium and Murrayfield in the future.
More broadly, if approved, the proposed merger with Three UK will lead to the construction of a nationwide 5G network in Scotland. This will come as part of an £11 billion investment, delivering 5G Standalone coverage to 89% of the country’s landmass.
In doing so, it would build on Vodafone’s existing investment in Scotland, which has seen 5G brought to major Scottish cities, airports and universities, as well as 4G coverage successfully introduced across rural areas through the Shared Rural Network (SRN) programme.
