Back of the net! Dedicated Vodafone 5G now live across stadiums

As demand for mobile data soars, dedicated in-building upgrades now provide Vodafone signal inside stadia across the UK.

With the new football season kicking off, there’s great news for Vodafone customers planning to watch their favourite team in person: fast and reliable Vodafone 5G is available at some of the largest and most iconic venues in the country.

Stadiums including Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Wembley are benefitting from fast Vodafone 5G as well as improved 4G, thanks to the deployment of dedicated network systems. As a result, fans can enjoy 5G’s fast speeds when browsing the latest results from across the league or sharing videos on social media. Elsewhere, 4G has been strengthened at Brighton’s American Express Stadium, Anfield, Craven Cottage, Stamford Bridge, St James’ Park and Villa Park, as well as rugby union’s Twickenham Stadium.

It’s not all about the footie, however. Vodafone’s partnership with the Principality Stadium in Cardiff also lets rugby fans benefit from a dedicated 5G system placed across the stadium. At a Taylor Swift concert held there in June 2024, concert goers consumed more than 3.3 terabytes (TB) of data. That’s equivalent to downloading a 90-minute HD film 700 times.

How 5G could supercharge the UK’s summer sport

Summer is officially here and, for sport lovers, it’s already shaping up to be a memorable one. But could 5G technology make it even better? Nick Gliddon, Director of Vodafone Business UK, asks – and answers – that very question.

Such dedicated 5G coverage for a stadium not also ensures that Vodafone can continue to meet visitors’ ever-increasing demand for data, but also lays the foundation for the future, such as a rollout of 5G Standalone (5G SA) if the planned merger between Vodafone UK and Three UK goes ahead.

5G SA would bring lower latency and even faster data speeds, so Vodafone 5G could also be used to support everything from augmented reality (AR) audience experiences and interactive crowd management to smart car parking systems and player fitness or training programmes.

So, whether you’re a red, a blue or a ‘Swiftie’, The Nation’s Network has you covered.
